Biography

Dr. Karlocai is an Assistant Researcher for the Hajos lab. During her undergraduate studies she studied anatomical alterations and network reorganization in rodent models of epilepsy and in epileptic post-surgical human tissue. After receiving her master's degree at Eötvös Loránd University, she continued studying the epileptic brain from both an anatomical and a functional perspective as she earned her PhD in Neurobiology and Neurosciences at Semmelweis University. Then, in 2021 Rita moved to Bloomington and joined the Hajos Lab to expand her knowledge in the principles of cortical and subcortical operation by studying other regions than the hippocampus. In the Hajos group she started focusing on the functional connectivity of the basal and central amygdala with special interest to its connectivity to other brain regions controlling behavior.
