Biography
Dr. Thalluri obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Kakatiya University, India and he obtained his Master of Science in chemistry at Andhra University, Vizag, India. He completed Ph.D. studies at the Indian Institute of technology Guwahati. His Ph.D. thesis entitled “Development of Chemo selective and Stereo-selective Strategies for Peptide Synthesis and Related Organic Transformations." He initiated post-doctoral research with Professor Richard DiMarchi at Indiana University in 2015, and subsequently progressed in 2020 to Assistant Research Scientist. He developed a breakthrough, enzyme-free synthetic route to the synthesis of insulin and other related peptides in the insulin superfamily. His research is focused on the discovery of novel drug candidates for the treatment of metabolic diseases. The first in this series of research constitutes a high potency and selective glucagon-like peptide antagonist suitable for once-weekly administration of atypical life-altering hypoglycemia. This drug candidate has been approved by the FDA for the start of clinical study later this year.
