Dr. Hájos earned his Ph.D. from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, and his Doctor of Sciences (D.Sc.) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. He joined the Indiana University faculty in 2021 as a professor of the Psychological and Brain Sciences and a Linda and Jack Gill Chair of Neuroscience.
Before joining the Indiana University Bloomington faculty, Hájos served as the head of the laboratory of Network Neurophysiology at the Institute of Experimental Medicine in Budapest, Hungary from 2009 to 2021. He also formerly held teaching positions at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Neuroscience is Hájos’s primary area of study, and his research spans topics related to cellular neuroscience, system neuroscience, and neuroanatomy. Throughout his professional career, Hájos has received several awards from numerous countries. He earned a Welcome Trust International Senior Research Fellowship (UK), the Cortical Explorer Price (USA), a NATO Science Fellowship, a Bolyai scholarship (Hungary), and many more. Hajos has also authored several well-cited scientific publications that have appeared in notable publications, including J Neuroscience, eLife, PLOS Biology, and more.
