Bence Barabas is a Research Scientist in the Hajos lab at Indiana University in Bloomington. He earned his Master's Degree from Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary where he specialized in molecular genetics as well as cell and developmental biology. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. at ‘János Szentágothai’ Doctoral School, Semmelweis. In 2015 he joined the Hajos's lab; during his first four years he gained experience in immunostaining, anterograde and retrograde tracing, and behavioral experiments combined with optogenetics. His research focused on investigating the role of the basal forebrain in controlling the mPFC-BLA pathway and its involvement in fear learning and memory formation. Over the past five years he has been conducting in vivo visually guided juxtacellular recordings in the premotor cortex of anesthetized mice to understand how cortical interneurons communicate in response to noxious stimuli.
